Ballon D'Or Winner's Mantra

"Work hard in silence. Let success be your noise. 🏆"
- Harry Kane, when crowned the world's best footballer for 2026

Gnomic, yes. Yet not quite redolent of a parody. For it does feel how the prolific striker has long guided his career.

As regular readers and those who know me will attest, I have little truck with life coach faux guru yoda-isms.

Thankfully this one is not that.

Not only does Harry live it, but a majority of the superstar solution sellers do too.

At odds with the Hollywood depiction of an endlessly self-promoting smooth talking garrulous extrovert entertainer rep, hey.

As my mum used to say, 'empty vessels make most noise'.

You might think in contrast too of 'the squeaky wheel gets the oil'. But that's not the true corollary. Misleading as that's for more a 'suffer in silence...' vibe.

I see Harry's line aplenty. Strong impression made on it from my early cubrep days.

The new senior arrival who simply sat down without fanfare and cold-called his entire territory, bang bang bang. That sent incredible ripples across the floor for sure.

The Number One who did his year's number in the first month, and as the fax (!) juggered in was already in a corner on his phone fixing up his next seam of prospect progress meets. Another surefire, strong message.

Then later as I myself was selling my own salesteam knowledge management (called ASP then, SaaS today) wares, I never spent an ad penny. This only fully dawned on me when a succession of potential clients rang me up, saying they'd got my number from an existing customer of mine they knew.

If all this strikes a chord with you, then I'd suggest success better comes from it.

You'll know when you working hard enough in sufficient silence. As that's when the noise around your success can be heard, and rising in a powerful crescendo.
