Negative Slide Negatived

Trends cycle round with presentation design. One that seems in thrall to fashion is the text-only, short message slide.

Originally, if such a thing did exist, it was black text on white. Then as Millennium dawned, the background was best advised dark, with light text atop.

Yet the blank white backdrop with (almost always) black font alone has again since taken over.

It's missing a trick when this is not mixed up a little.

You can keep your white canvas. But think about what happens when you've the occasional message showing the 'bad'. A pain point. A wrong step. Something to avoid.

I think this works well in a deck. Where you've a string of brief text slides. among them, one with a negative concept.

Have all but the 'downer' as white-with-black-text. Wherever the 'offender' sits, switch that 'round.

As ever, a picture tells a thousand, or in this case 150, words. So here's three sample slides. Give it a go.
