That's a Great Idea!
Here's the summation of a senior exec on colleagues that have, it seems, begun to run everything past ChatGPT.
No matter the true veracity of their work-related notion, the AI bot response is always "super positive".
Even when asked for any downsides, it appears any are merely trifling.
This strikes me as troubling.
With more and more turning to their bot of choice, there's a growing audit check emerging; 'what does AI think?'
If your answer is also, 'that's a great idea!', ought we hear an alarm?
I wonder how far we should tread down the route of 'what issues might arise...'?
Leading potentially to holes of rabbit, worm or simply pot nature.
Yet professional buyers are wont to ask, 'why would this not work?' So we're best prepped.
Away from the doubt dispelling angle, there's also the double-down.
'What makes this such a great idea?'
Which perhaps gives glimpse into a world of hallucination. Both of bot and as yet mainly unspoken, of us too. As explained by AI critic Prof Gary Marcus;
“Recognising that [AI] sucks in your own speciality, but imagining that it is somehow fabulous in domains you are less familiar with [is] 'ChatGPT blindness' ”.
Either way, despite the constant pressure to provide logic - such as in the form of the feted business case and RoI numbers - it is worth remembering that every decision to eventually Buy is 100% emotional.
Put that through yer bot.
