Basics of Efficient Selling via Music PR Genius

This month sees glowing obituaries posted of music promo "legend", Keith Altham. One of those characters who you suspect, despite right-time-right-place at the birth of what today we know as pop, still shows those involved today how it should be done. As London's The Times stated, "[he] helped to shape that future".

Among those he mentored was Alan Edwards. Who'd go on to have his own shining career. He commented;

"[Keith] taught me the tricks of the trade. He drummed into me the basics for an efficient PR – things like always returning calls, actually sending a record when you said you would."

With this telling sign-off;

"I make light of it, but the grounding advice that Keith gave me has been a bedrock throughout my career."

The same man, was also quoted adding;

'He had a soft, light touch … and he really cared about the people he represented”.'

And in what may well be an unsurprising insight into nicely oiling relationship machinations, here's one cited example of his methods from his own writing;

“Most of my conversations with them went like this:
Altham: ‘How would you like to interview Eddy Grant?’
Press: ‘Latest single isn’t doing much.’
Altham: ‘How would you like to interview Eddy Grant in Barbados?’
Press: ‘When do we leave?'”

The Basics bedrock of returning calls and doing what you promised.
