Behind Unexplained Curtain
Much-loved English radio broadcaster, Howard Hughes, left quite the body of work. In his later life, a significant light in the murky world of bizarrerie where he stood apart as a beacon of sanity and curiosity in a field otherwise mired with the crank often verging on dangerous.
His arena was audio. Yet his exuberance was an unbridled joy to watch when pushed beyond his comfort zone onto live video.
I've blogged before on his visual presentation. There was plenty to take into our Sales performing. From both him and his multitude of eclectic, left-field guests.
I for one an avid, regular listener (& stream viewer) over the last seven years he hosted The Unexplained on Sunday nights.
Of the screenfuls of tributes, I bookend this post with glimpses of Howard's studio desk.
You'd often see evidence for a raft of papers between him and his laptop.
He'd pick up his running order. A few sheets stapled together he'd glance or flick through. In full waving view of the camera. Also reaching for and shuffle and read from countless supporting sheets.
When did you last have a printed or written out 'running order' for a sales video call you ran?
Or have on-hand a decent prop, that you could grab and show for maximum punch?
Or able to pick up and use pen and page to draw up a point?
Be More Howard, Make More Gains.
