Changed Will

A seasoned pre-sales tekkie gave me a good saying the other day, happily fresh to my ears;

a mind changed against their will

is of the same opinion still

I like it. And not just because it rhymes (always a winner with quotes).

I’ve worked recently in tandem with a chap immersed in the ways of Dale Carnegie training. He firmly believes that you must accept that everyone believes they alone are right. And no matter how you, as boss, make them follow your view, they will still nevertheless keep to their original thought as ‘correct’.

It’s an interesting concept when applied to both sales manager-salesperson and prospect-seller dynamics.

The key is clearly to avoid the “against their will” part. Crack that, then you will see who the most passionate disciples always are for your ideas; those at first dead set against.
