Rostrum to State Room Week's Trio of Remote Work Zoomscapes

You suspect his desk is at the window as the daylighting looks decent.

In footage from the same day and place, we see another video spot.

Notice how he can take notes too on a call, even without deskspace to lean on, and so can you.

If included, ought his own 'cell' there be better, higher?

Yes, here too he could do with raising his webcam a touch. Even a simple box or few books under laptop would help avoid nostrilcam and fit his whole head in the container.

But then we might miss the ornate touches of this regimental type setting.

A room strangely not un-reminiscent of from where Donald Trump conducted his much trailed audio 'interview' with Elon Musk. As shared by his team, the rather old school grandeur of its setting doesn't feel anything like the dazzletech zeitgeist commonplace for such photo opps today. Is that the point?

Whilst audio-only, it feels not quite the rig for optimal output, hey.

Although he does have loose leaf notes in-vision.

Despite him seemingly not having a pen to hand for his own on-the-go reminders.

It's worth having further sneaks at this.

He's also got a mic. And a power backup. Have you?

And if you were to flip to video call from there, would you choose to have either of the ships or, ahem, other painting as in the clip above in view?

There is though an interesting bluey reflection on those rear walls. (Which I've tried to enhance a touch). So perhaps a bank of screens sit behind the camera too. Always a workspace winner.

A final point. The bling. I myself am and always have been a cufflink man. Despite learning from the outset of the distracting klang that can arise when wrist nears desk. Inevitably, I display such sartorial elegance less these days, due to relaxing business dress codes. On a video call if so attired I will still ensure any potential shrill clunk is muffled. Perhaps the lacey tablecloth above was enough to do that job here?

Also, interesting to note, via the account of the accompanying photographer on hand, that this room is in fact multi-use. As her following day's post below shows this repurposing.

Finally, from The Lodge. On which I blogged last week. Here with a TeamGB Olympic gold medal winner saying thank yous.

What struck me about this, was throughout the event we've seen all manner of interesting places where such elite competitors have video'd from. Live and as here pre-recorded. Many specifically set-up for snazzy specially created, media friendly backdrops. Yet the world-record cyclist below chose to be in an unassuming corner of the site. Maybe with a swing behind her, in a little garden, seemingly with non-descript foliage and plastic furniture. Such spot can still work though, right.
