Science Gaps

I caught the always entertaining pop-Prof Brian Cox on a morning radio slot today answering crazy listener questions on science, the universe and everything.

He dropped a couple of cool lines.

We can only answer questions to the best of our knowledge, there are no absolute truths in science, and a good scientist is one that knows what they don’t know.

Whilst all three points are applicable in Sales, this last part struck me most. The number of salespeople I meet that act and speak like they know everything is shocking. When the opposite is patently obvious. A sprinkling of humility goes a long way.

And in many ways, it is the drive a salesperson gets from acknowledging what is unknown (both on a deal and career-wise generally) that spurs them on to stellar heights.
