Type E to Stop Circling Back
Hello [firstname] - I'm circling back around one last time to see if you had read my previous email sent to you.
I'd still be more than welcome to speak with you about [generic business functional classification] and how it might help you reach your financial and lifestyle goals. (That is, if you're interested in knowing more).
[sender's firstname]
P.S. Write or type the letter "E" to discontinue
Here's text of a sales mail that evaded spam barriers.
I recognise it as a flavour of the 'breakup email' - 'one last time' - that became fashionable about a decade back. Particularly swamping LinkedIn.
With added dash of the permission-based - 'that is, if you're interested in knowing more' - vibe.
Then ending to avoid Big Tech spam filtering - 'type the letter "E" to discontinue' - shutting out many an "unsubscribe" hack-around (and deviously leads to fooling gates further as makes it look like a genuine interaction).
Then I googled the subject line;
Object to me asking this?
The source supposedly Chris Voss. Which was interesting, as I'd read his book, Never Split the Difference. Borne of his experience as hostage mega-negotiator.
It was a while back now, but his phrase along these lines I remember from that time was;
'Would it be a ridiculous idea if ....'
Taking advantage of people's propensity for Pavlovian 'No' upon any opening question.
There's plenty bang average about all this though.
Which began right from the very start. With the initial, previous email first line;
'Acknowledging that we haven't yet been properly introduced ...'
The language is almost the least of the ills.
From this; 'circling back'. From the earlier; 'let me know your availability and I'll shoot a Zoom calendar invite your way'.
The latter also including this further belter; 'with no charge attached to my advice'.
Sad to say, this kind of rubbish is set to explode. When direct marketeers get hold of Agentic AI I fear the worst.
After all, it was 'internet marketing' leeches that thirty years ago set the template for disreputable and empty and endless upsell loop subscription coaching and other equally useless, overpriced, racketeered "product".
