Olympiana

Overwhelmed. Incredible desire, awesome execution. Some of the quotes from the Gold athletes after their performances are truly inspiring. Humble, yet focused. Lessons galore for the aspirant quota-buster. Here’s a couple for starters from disciplines that at first glance seems poles apart. cycling “Queen” Victoria Pendleton; > don’t

Magic Wheels

And more from the remarkable pedallers. With their rivals left so much in the shade that they are practically shackled in a dungeon, rumours fly around about how their dominance comes about. The latest piece of folklore surrounds “magic wheels”. Brilliant. What is clear, is that the opposition is well

Cycling Colossi

It’s difficult to use a superlative that does Dave Brailsford justice. He’s the Team GB cycling head honcho. Everything he does is brilliant. His every action a masterclass in high performance management. The latest nugget I learn from him, is that he employs someone with the job title;

Gold Rush – Heptathlete Motivation

I love Jessica Ennis. Victoria Pendleton. Katherine Grainger. And so many more Gold champions. I’ve even started to quite like Andy Murray. Yes. The Olympics Have Got Me. Bigtime. Countless tales of sterling endeavour preceding heroic execution abound from our sceptred isle. Let’s start with Jess. She clearly

[https://salespodder.com/content/images/wordpress/2012/08/olympic-park-megastore.jpg] The merchandise cathedrals inside Olympic Park are incredible. Here’s an interesting sales chat I had with a Kiwi sales manager. I know, hard to believe, but true. I was running through all those chirpy 70s-style selling phrases with the word ‘price’ in them; > take the ice out of price he who buys on price pays twice

Big Ticket Presentation Training

A salesteam I recently worked with had all traipsed off for a day of presentation skills training. They were a little underwhelmed. It’s not that the training was considered ‘bad’. And when the guys took me through the materials, I thought there was some good points in there. It’

Ask The Boss

[http://image.comms.london2012.com/london2012/ftp_images/JoinIn/Olympic/PDF/asktheboss.pdf] Wow. The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. There is hope for the world yet. Beijing’s conformity and control usurped by London’s expression and exuberance. And what fun it was. As I somehow snared some tickets

The Power Of Post-Its

I ran an afternoon sales workshop for 40 people recently. And after the enormous luncheon that preceded it, I knew I needed to be on super top form. At one stage, I asked each participant to write something on a post-it. I then took them in a break and put

BT Salesteam Refresh

A division of global telco, BT, decided on a major overhaul of their sales team. It took two years and by the account of the person who shared this with me, the results were spectacular. Although painful to reach. They secretly deployed just three criteria; > last year’s performance
