Team Coming Together

Not one given to spending time with American sport, I was intrigued to see basketballer Kobe Bryant enthuse about football during a CNN interview in S Africa at the World Cup. An avid AC Milan fan, he also played in goal as a lad. He’s just won a fifth

Whitehall Spending Challenge

Here’s a pair of facts presently emblazoned across screens in the UK’s aftermath of the new (coalition) Government’s emergency budget: > £952 Billion – total current debt £155 Billion – current deficit The figures are of eye-watering worry. Britain owes almost One Trillion pounds Sterling. Staggeringly, that’s over

Enjoyment?

One word for today; > Enjoyment Yesterday saw England comfortably put Australia to the sword. Building on their awesome championship winning Twenty20 World Cup campaign, they put to bed the utter shambles that was last year’s belittling at the hands of the old foe in the 50-over form. As

Right now, neither BP nor the American Government are providing a case study in how to conduct crisis management. And can there be any supposedly altruistic organisation that gets such a pasting in

Dress Rehearsals

I saw Aussie Bill Granger [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Granger] cooking for a small Summer evening private dinner party hosted by a couple of girls that design in Sydney’s high-fashion world. Scallops to start, chicken salad then meringue. Having recently delivered a presentation as part of a team

Mistake Management

Here’s a phrase I learned after watching a sports psychologist on Sky News [http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/England-Coach-Fabio-Capello-Can-Use-Sports-Psychologist-Christian-Lattanzio-To-Assess-Robert-Green/Article/201006315650532?lpos=UK_News_First_Home_Page_Feature_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15650532_England_Coach_Fabio_Capello_Can_Use_Sports_Psychologist_Christian_Lattanzio_To_Assess_

Know Your Realm Of Expertise

I just had recounted to me a pearl of wisdom attributed to a Dr Peter Asquith. Apparently a surgeon, this sage once saw a colleague completely taken apart on the stand by a silk in a legal case. The lesson he had confirmed to him was, > “never go beyond

Never Waste A Crisis

The world seems to be coming round to the opinion that Obama is in a job too far. There appears a pretty much universal view that his response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is both inappropriate and ineffective. One such talking head I saw referred to the mantra of
